Naples (Neapolitan: Napule), officially the Kingdom of Naples (Neapolitan: Regno 'e Napule), is a sovereign country in southern Europe situated in the southern part of the Apennine Peninsula and on the island of Sicily. The country is bordered by the Papal States to the north, the Adriatic Sea to the east, the Mediterranean Sea to the south and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west. The Neapolitan Kingdom and the Kingdom of Sicily together form the Kingdom of Naples. The total area of the mainland Neapolitan Kingdom is 58,300 km² with an estimated population in 1960 of 8 million, whearas the total area of the Kingdom of Sicily is 25,900 km² with an estimated population in 1960 of 3 million. The combined area of both kingdoms is 84,200 km² with an estimated population in 1960 of 11 million.

Naples is a parliamentary democracy and constitutional hereditary monarchy. The monarch, ? has reigned since ?. The capital and largest city is Naples.​
